LM Residency Curriculum

OVERVIEW

The Lifestyle Medicine Residency Curriculum (LMRC) is a comprehensive, applicable, and flexible curriculum designed for integrated implementation into medical residency programs. The educational component includes 40 hours of didactic material along with 60 hours of application activities designed to be completed over a 1-3 year time period. The practicum component enables residents to clearly demonstrate ongoing exposure to and use of the principles of lifestyle medicine in the clinical setting with patients. Upon completion of both the educational and practicum components of the curriculum, residents qualify to sit for the American Board of Lifestyle Medicine certification exam.

Do you want to see lifestyle medicine being taught in your residency program?

The ACLM Lifestyle Medicine Residency Curriculum is a comprehensive, applicable, and flexible curriculum that prepares residents to make evidence-based, lifestyle behavior interventions.

The ACLM Lifestyle Medicine Residency Curriculum was first piloted in July 2018 within four sites across five programs, with 80 residents enrolled.

Is the LMRC specifically designed for certain types of medical specialties?

The curriculum is designed to be implemented in ALL specialties. At present, it is largely focused on adult health considerations, however, unique content is in development to meet other specialty and sub-specialty educational needs. We are open to considering all specialty site applications.

How many months will we need for the LMRC implementation?

We encourage a 2-year (24-month) or a 3-year (36-month) implementation time frame based on your residency program needs. If your site can ensure all program requirements are met within a 12 or 18-month time frame, we can work with you to make this time frame feasible as well.
