Sources of LMIG Funding

There are many ways your LMIG can receive funding for hosting events and providing amenities. Here are some of our suggestions:

Local professional societies
Local health-related companies (sneaker companies, active-wear companies, sports companies, health-food companies, health- food stores and supermarkets)

Offer Mentorship Opportunities

Host a career session to expose trainees/students to how they can incorporate LM into primary care fields and other specialties

Organize a networking reception with students, faculty and residents who practice LM or have an interest. This is a great way to start building community and getting connected
Connect with local and national mentors via the ACLM Membership Directory (must be an ACLM member to access)
Discuss post-graduate training opportunities to explore careers in LM
Explore sites that offer ACLM Lifestyle Medicine Residency Curriculum
Join an ACLM Member Interest Group

LMIG Volunteering

Offer to give a talk at an elementary school, middle school, and high school on one of the pillars of lifestyle medicine. Share ACLM Complimentary Pediatric/Adolescent Resources and/or host LM 101 Teen Lecture Series
Organize a community screening of a lifestyle medicine-related documentary such as “Forks Over Knives”, “Game Changers” or “Code Blue”
Organize cooking classes at your local community center or with your medical school’s affiliated Free Clinic utilizing the ACLM Culinary Medicine Curriculum

Clinical Skills Developoment & Learning Opportunities

SURVEY INTEREST | Poll students to gain information about interest in LM skills that could be organized as a workshop.
PATIENT PANEL | Host a patient panel with patients who have significantly benefited from lifestyle changes. Contact LM practitioners in the area who can identify patients who would be willing to share their stories. You can also contact LM practitioners in other areas and organize a remote panel discussion with patients. Consult the ACLM Expert Directory to find LM practitioners.
Trainee Mentorship Interview Series | Review recorded interview sessions hosted by ACLM Trainee Executives to learn from a variety of LM professionals on how they incorporate LM into their daily practice.
WORKSHOP | Organize a clinical skills workshop on:
- Motivational Interviewing

- Writing an exercise or nutrition prescription
- Culinary Medicine
- Efficient dietary and physical activity history taking
- Counseling patients in primary care

Social Media Advice & Branding Guidelines

LMIGs are encouraged to spread the word about their activies through platforms such as Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, Vimeo, etc. Please review and follow ACLM branding guidelines here (include link/button to Branding Guidline page)
